Macmillan Coffee Morning

In support of Macmillan Cancer Support, we hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning, a nationwide event where people all over the country dressed up in green and gathered for coffee & sweet treats. We wanted to share how much we value meaningful causes like this, by raising awareness and encouraging participation.

Since being founded almost 100 years ago, Macmillan Cancer Support has grown to raise millions of pounds and has helped hundreds of thousands of people affected by cancer. In the 1990s, Macmillan introduced ‘Macmillan Coffee Morning’, an annual tradition where friends, colleagues, and communities came together for a morning with coffee and cake to raise money. Funds raised for Macmillan can go towards a variety of things. For example, just £78 could help run their Online Community. £200 could fund a Macmillan Grant, which helps families affected by cancer pay for energy bills, travel to hospital, or home adaptations. £673 could pay for a Macmillan support worker for a week, and £1240 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a week, helping people affected by cancer by ensuring they are receiving necessary medical, practical and emotional support to help manage the impacts of cancer.

You can support Macmillan Cancer Support in various ways. Members of a community/club can host a Macmillan Coffee Morning. You can also volunteer to work for Macmillan, by supporting people affected by cancer. Alternatively, you can always donate via the Macmillan website.

At the UK Holiday Group, we managed to raise £173 on the Macmillan Coffee Morning 2024 (27 September 2024) by collecting money for the entry fee for the ‘Guess how many coffee cups’ poster challenge, voluntary donations, and the generosity of our Founder/Managing Director, Paul Bennett, with The UK Charity Partnership, had matched all funds raised by employees. We are really pleased that we could support this meaningful charity.

1 in 2 people will develop some type of cancer in their lifetime, so if you or someone you know is being affected by cancer, we encourage you to reach out to Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan offers help in many ways including their cancer hotline, which is open 12 hours a day, via email, via the online chat function & more.
We thank you for taking the time to read this article and considering a donation to this important cause.
